VIAS employees perform outstanding work every day. As diverse as the positions within the company are, the safety and well-being of people is at the centre of our activities. It fills our actions with meaning and purpose.

Security agents carry out security checks at Vienna Airport. They check all passengers and employees who enter the security area. The job includes greeting and preparing for the screening process, manually checking clothing on the person themselves and detecting dangerous objects in hand luggage using a variety of technical devices. This includes analysing X-ray images from the X-ray system, explosives analysers, metal detectors and much more. These checks are carried out in close cooperation with the police.

The compatibility of precise execution of the specified processes and the well-being of the passenger is paramount. The security agent works directly on and with people, whose individual needs must be taken into account even when there is a high volume of checks.

Your duty rota could look like this

The Special Assistance Agents team takes care of passengers with special needs. This includes accompanying or transporting them from Check-In to their seat on the aircraft or from landing to the arrivals hall, as well as providing assistance with any necessary security and border controls.

The use of technical equipment is as varied as the needs of the passenger. They range from wheelchairs and e-mobiles to pallet trucks that enable direct access to the aircraft.

The focus is on ensuring that every passenger has a pleasant and safe stay at Vienna Airport.

The Service Guides look after departing and arriving passengers at Vienna Airport. They are competent contact persons for our guests before the security check, prepare passengers for the security checks and regulate the flow of passengers in front of the checkpoints. As part of porter services, they assist passengers with their luggage.

Their central task is to ensure that travellers have a pleasant and smooth stay at Vienna Airport.

The VIAS training academy

Expertise through training

With around 42,000 passengers per day, it is necessary to carry out the work correctly, especially in the area of security checks.

Errors in this sensitive area can have far-reaching consequences and must therefore be avoided. This is why we attach great importance to intensive training and ongoing trainings for our employees.

Our team in our own in-house training academy imparts comprehensive specialist knowledge on an ongoing basis. Not only are new employees trained as Security Agents or Special Assistance Agents, but existing employees are also continuously trained in order to fulfil legal and internal company requirements.

We also offer awareness and specialist training for various companies.
