A long company history with many challenges

We can look back on 30 years of experience in all areas of aviation security. During this time, there have been many changes that have transformed our industry and our company. Below you will find a small extract of key milestones.

  1. 1992

    Establishment of Vienna International Airport Security Services Ges.m.b.H. Publication of the Aviation Security Act (LSG).
  2. Vienna International Airport Security Services Ges.m.b.H. was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of the Interior to carry out passenger checks. In the years prior to 1994, passenger screening was carried out by the police.
  3. VIAS has set up the Special Assistance Team to provide passengers with limited mobility with easy and comfortable transport at Vienna Airport.
  4. Attack on the WORLD TRADE CENTER in New York City on 11 September and the associated development of new laws relating to flight safety for all EU countries.
    Foundation of GET-Service G.m.b.H. as a 100% subsidiary of VIAS.
  5. Establishment of a dedicated explosives dog squadron for special checks.
    The EU publishes EU Regulation 2320/2002 with significant changes for aviation safety.
  6. Implementation of the 100% control of checked-in baggage required by EU Regulation 2320/2002.
  7. Start of surveillance at the entrances to aircraft.
    Publication of EU Regulation 68/2004, which defines prohibited articles that may not be brought on board an aircraft.
  8. January 1, 2006: Start of 100% checks of the staff working at the airport.

    Since November 1, 2006, for safty reasons, passengers are no longer allowed to take unlimited quantities of liquids into the cabin of an aircraft.

  9. Implementation of the legal basis from EU Regulations 300/2008 and 185/2010.
  10. Opening of Terminal 3 and the North Pier as well as the largest central security checkpoint at Vienna Airport.
  11. Implementation of the NEW 2014 liquids regulation - a relief for all passengers.
  12. Implementation of the new decision of the National Aviation Safety Act, which calls for the introduction of comprehensive explosives trace checks.
  13. New members at MIKO/HBS

    ‘One for all, all for one": our young explosives detection dogs are about to save the world.

  14. Training change Security Agent

    It is possible for us to divide the 6-week basic training to become a security agent with monitor authorisation into 2 modules.

    Furthermore, we can already carry out this training in the employment relationship!
